⭐️ – OUR WEEK IN REVIEW – W/C 8th March 2021 – ⭐️
WELCOME BACK boys and girls!! What a week it has been, in our first week of 2021 teaching ALL of the wonderful children in our partner schools! We are so happy to have you back ☺️
We continued our Basketball sessions in our partner schools, as well as announcing our Fun Weeks for the Easter Holidays (VERY EXCITED!!). Full information is below!
See below in a little bit more detail, what we’ve been up too and any updates from the PlaySport team.
The PlaySport team have delivered our first full week of 2021 with all of the children in our care, in our partner schools: Fox Hill, Sandy Lane, Meadow Vale, St Michaels’ and Great Hollands. The coaching team have started Basketball across the year groups in our schools with a few other sports thrown into the mix (different schools plans may vary!).
Fox Hill – It’s been a highly enjoyable first week back for the children at Fox Hill, as the children have been working on their Basketball, with a particular focus on controlling and protecting the ball from opposing defenders.
The level of excitement in the school this week has been very high (as you can imagine), but huge credit to the children, who have remained focused and have truly been superb this week. You wouldn’t think they have been away!
It’s also been the first week for a new member of the PlaySport team, Mr Hayes! Mr Hayes will be working alongside Mr McBride until the end of the term, until heading off to deliver at a new PlaySport school (we’ll reveal all in good time!) in the Summer Term!
Highlight of the Week – The Year 1 bubble group were absolutely superb in their first ever Basketball session. So proud of them all!
Sandy Lane – One of our biggest schools, Sandy Lane has returned with a bang, with large amounts of smiley and excitable children ready for their first PE sessions of 2021!
The children have been working hard with Mr Nower and Mr McDonnell on their Basketball, focusing on finding spaces and gaps to pass the ball into.
As always with a PlaySport session, the children have been learning in match-play scenarios, which they have thoroughly enjoyed!
Highlight of the Week – The Year 4 classes this week were an absolute pleasure to teach and demonstrated fantastic teamwork when working together – Well done Year 4!
Meadow Vale – It’s been an amazing and hectic week at our newest school, Meadow Vale, as Mr Sleet and Mr Dean have finally got to meet all of the children!
It’s been a truly superb week at Meadow Vale, with the new PlaySport lunchtime clubs fully operating which has given the chance for the coaching team to really get to know the children! The children have absolutely loved having a variety of fun, active games to take part in with their peers, it’s been lovely to be a part of!
As for the PE, this week has seen a focus on finding spaces and gaps to pass the ball into, in their Basketball.
It has to be noted, considering for a large amount of the pupils, it’s been their first week working with Mr Sleet and Mr Dean, the behaviour and respect shown has been faultless.
Highlight of the Week – Finally meeting all of the children at Meadow Vale, it’s been an absolute pleasure.
Great Hollands – It’s been another amazing week at Great Hollands, with Mr Robinson continuing the hard work and focus on their Cricket and new Great Hollands coach Mr Lambden teaching his groups Tennis.
This week in Cricket, the children have focused on their fielding skills, practicing the run-out dismissal. The children were absolutely superb, given the fact (for the majority) it’s their first Cricket session in a very long time.
Highlight of the Week – One of the children asking his parent if he can go to a Cricket match.
St Michael’s Easthampstead – Mr Craske and Mr Stow have been thrilled to be back every afternoon at St Michaels, greeting full classes of excitable children for their lunch clubs and PE!
The PE this week has seen a focus on finding spaces and gaps to pass the ball into, in their Basketball. The children have been playing mini matches also, which the children have absolutely loved in their first week back at school.
One thing that was noted, was that despite the competitive element of the session, the respect the children showed for one another was incredible. Lovely to see!
Highlight of the Week – The standard of play by the Year 6 group was simply 10/10! Well done Year 6!
We’re so excited to deliver our Easter Fun Weeks over the upcoming Easter Holidays, we’ll be delivering two Fun Weeks, our Let Me Play provision at Fox Hill Primary School, and our Football Fun Days, in partnership with Finchampstead Football Club.
