⭐️OUR WEEK IN REVIEW – W/C 26th April 2021⭐️

PlaySport provides wrap around care to primary schools in Bracknell.

Week number 2 of the summer term and the PlaySport team have had another brilliant week across our 6 partner schools in Bracknell Forest delivering Cricket.

Furthermore, we can confirm we are returning at Jennett’s Park for our Soccer Skills after school clubs next week, as well as Crown Wood the week after. We are slowly but surely getting back to normal, which as you can imagine, fills us with excitement!

See below in a little bit more detail, what we’ve been up too and any updates from the PlaySport team.

The PlaySport team have been busy this week delivering our daily lunch clubs & PE sessions, in our partner schools: Fox Hill, Sandy Lane, Meadow Vale, St Michael’s Easthampstead, Great Hollands and The Pines.

We continue this week our Cricket with the children, with the learning objectives: “Can you increase the speed of your bowl?” for KS1 and “Continuing to develop different types of catches and techniques” for KS2.

Once again, we can’t fault the children across the board this week for their effort, behaviour and application during every session. What has been particularly impressive however, is the accuracy in the bowling of the KS1 children, particularly given the fact, the overarm bowl is not something that is regularly practiced (in comparison to the under-arm throw) during an academic year, this is even before considering Cricket was missed last academic year due to the lockdown. Absolute stars!

The KS2 children of course deserve their praise too… their fielding in particular has been at a very high level, with the children learning the long barrier when retrieving the ball across the floor at speed and throwing with great speed and accuracy to get the opposing team out!

In a nutshell, another terrific week!

See below each lead coaches ‘Highlight of the Week’ in our partner schools:

Fox Hill – Mr McBride: “This week the highlight has to be the Year 6 class on the Thursday! We all had so much fun, that an apology was needed to the parents, as our lesson went slightly over!”

Sandy Lane – Mr Nower: “The level of the fielding from the Year 4 class was truly remarkable this week. One child threw potentially the ball of the century to seal an incredibly tense match. Amazing stuff!”

Meadow Vale – Mr Dean: “The great monkey impressions of reception on tuesday in the game of monkey ball, lots of greats rolls, stops, throws & catches too!”

Great Hollands – Mr Robinson: “The Panthers class’ team work on the Thursday was outstanding. Supporting their team and cheering them on throughout the game is exactly the teamwork and sportsmanship we love to see. Well done, very proud!”

St Michael’s Easthampstead – Mr Craske: “The KS1 children as a whole this week were a joy to teach. What made this week extra special, was the clear and obvious progress they are already making. This is of course down to their sheer hard work. Very proud of all of them!”

The Pines – Mr Hayes: “The Year 4 ‘Hawthorns’ class for me just about nipped the star class of the week and subsequently was my highlight! They were so amazing they earned a class marble, much to the children and class teacher’s joy! Already excited for next week’s lesson with them!”

The planning for the our May/June Fun Weeks has begun and we’re extremely excited to be back at a familiar location!

We will be releasing full information very soon via social media and to our email list but in the meantime, we can confirm that we’re back at Windsor Leisure Centre! After what feels like an eternity, the site is ready to welcome us back and we can’t wait!

Our Fox Hill Fun Week is open as normal, and we hope to open the bookings for Finchampstead FC soon.

We’ve had another terrific week at our sport specific sessions this term as both our Finchampstead FC Soccer School and FC Bracknell Wildcats players enjoy football with their friends.

Our Finchampstead FC players had a session focused on Ball Control, specifically controlling on the move and being aware of available spaces to move into.

Our FC Bracknell Wildcats players enjoyed a session focused on 1v1 dribbling and how they can successfully get past defenders in a variety of ways.

The session stars will be uploaded to our social media pages so if your son/daughter received the trophy, head over to our pages to check out the photo!

To round up this week’s update, we hope you and your family had an enjoyable weekend.
