⭐️OUR WEEK IN REVIEW – W/C 15th March 2021⭐️

PlaySport provides PPA cover to primary schools in Farnborough.

It’s been Week 2 with all of the children back in school, and things are now feeling very much ‘back to normal’, which after the start to 2021, is a great feeling!

We continue our Basketball sessions in our partner schools, as well as working hard behind the scenes with our Fun Weeks in the Easter Holidays.

Bookings are coming at a very fast pace – so if you are interested in booking on your son/daughter onto our Fun Weeks, it is recommended you secure your spaces as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Full information is below!

See below in a little bit more detail, what we’ve been up too and any updates from the PlaySport team.

The PlaySport team continued delivering our daily Lunch Clubs & PE sessions, in our partner schools: Fox Hill, Sandy Lane, Meadow Vale, St Michaels’ and Great Hollands. The coaching team continue Basketball across the year groups with a few other sports thrown into the mix (different schools plans may vary!).

Fox Hill – As always, it’s been another great week at Fox Hill, particularly as the end of the week (Friday) brought ‘Superhero Day’ for Red Nose Day! For some reason, Mr McBride believes ‘Rupert The Bear’ to be a superhero!!!

In PE, the children continue to progress in their Basketball, with the learning focus of ‘finding spaces and gaps to pass the ball into’. The children have now very much been in match style scenarios, in 3v3 mini-games and are now demonstrating an excellent understanding of the technical side of the game, which is excellent to see.

Highlight of the Week – The Friday Year 6 PE day with all of the children dressed up, was lots of fun and a great way to end the week.

Sandy Lane – It’s been another brilliant week at Sandy Lane, with the children now well and truly back into the swing of things!

This week the younger children (KS1) have been continuing with throwing and catching skills, linking into Basketball. Whilst the KS2 children have done a mixture of Hockey and Basketball in 2v2s and then into match play. The children as always, have been superb this week and have shown a healthy and respectful competitive edge in their play.

Highlight of the Week – How enthusiastic and amazing the Reception class were in their first ever outdoor session as a class!

Meadow Vale – It’s been another great week at Meadow Vale, with the children all continuing to impress Mr Sleet and Mr Dean in not only their ability, but behaviour and respect for others!

As for the PE, this week has seen a focus on finding spaces and gaps to pass the ball into, in their Basketball.

A slight side note, tons of brand-new PE equipment arrived this week, which will start to be in regular use for the children to use during both lunch times and in PE sessions! The future is certainly exciting at Meadow Vale and thank you to the school for their ongoing support!

Highlight of the Week – The progress made by the Year 4 class this week was superb!!

Great Hollands – It’s been another fun week at Great Hollands, with Mr Robinson continuing the hard work and focus on their Cricket and Mr Lambden teaching his groups Tennis.

In Cricket, the focus was over-arm throwing and also introducing Kwik Cricket, which the children absolutely thrived in, as it gave them the opportunity to smash the ball as far as they can!

Highlight of the Week – An absolute wonder catch from one of the Year 4 pupils. Mr Robinson was absolutely stunned.

St Michael’s Easthampstead – Mr Craske and Mr Stow have loved every minute of second full week back at St Michaels, working hard with the children during their lunch times and PE sessions!!

The focus on Basketball this week has been all about passing and moving, with the children competing in 2v2 and 3v3 match-play scenarios, with an emphasis of quick turnovers! The children have done a terrific job (as always), showing a real hunger to improve in their learning.

Highlight of the Week – The Year 2 class were absolute stars and made huge progress this week!

We’re so excited to deliver our Easter Fun Weeks over the upcoming Easter Holidays, we’ll be delivering two Fun Weeks, our Let Me Play provision at Fox Hill Primary School, and our Football Fun Days, in partnership with Finchampstead Football Club.
