⭐️OUR WEEK IN REVIEW – W/C 18th January 2021⭐️

PlaySport provide sports PPA cover to primary schools in Bracknell.

It’s been another positive week in the PlaySport camp, despite the grim weather! We have continued working with the children who are still in school and the big event of the week has of course been the launch of our very own Lockdown Learning, which has brought PE to all of the children working from home!

SCHOOL SPORTS PARTNERSHIP

The PlaySport team have continued 2021 working with ‘bubble groups’ in our partner schools, Fox Hill, Sandy Lane, Meadow Vale and Great Hollands. We have also had our first week back at the wonderful St Michael’s Easthampstead. The coaching team continue delivering Hockey across the year groups in our schools with the children furthering their development in the sport.

Fox Hill – Mr McBride continues working hard with the children on their Hockey, with the focus this week being able to control the ball at a variety of different speeds and on the move. The children have shown a terrific appetite to learn and have become masters at ‘the long barrier’ when controlling the ball.

Highlight so far – Year 4 PE was amazing! Despite a class size of 5, the children and Mr McBride had enormous fun!

Sandy Lane – Mr Nower and Mr McDonnell continue their hard work in the mornings with the lovely children of Sandy Lane!

The children this week have been learning Basketball, focusing on dribbling and shooting with the children competing in a tense battle of ‘hot seat’ which they all loved! Particularly, as Mr Nower often missed!

Highlight so far – One of the children in Year 5 managed to score a backward shot!

Meadow Vale – Week 3 for Mr Sleet at our brand-new school Meadow Vale and it’s been another belter, particularly as a bond is now growing between the PlaySport team and the children.

Like the children of Fox Hill, the learning has very much been focused on being able to control the ball at speed and on the move (in Hockey) which is centred largely around the long barrier technique, with the children truly excelling in their sessions. As always, the sessions had a competitive element which the children thrive on!

We are truly loving our new school; the staff and children are just fab!

Highlight so far – The level of focus from the Year 4 students in learning their long-barrier.

Great Hollands – Mr Robinson has continued working hard with the bubble groups at Great Hollands working on both Hockey and Volleyball.

The children in Hockey (like Fox Hill and Meadow Vale) are working very hard on the mastery of controlling the ball at speed and whilst on the move. Volleyball this week has been focused on the children learning to serve – which of course has been added into match play scenarios which has kept the competitive element of the sessions high!

Another great week!

Highlight of the week – The Year 1/2 bubble have been the real superstars this week – their development in Hockey has been simply fantastic!

St Michael’s Easthampstead – We are back!!

The coaching team certainly missed life at St Michael’s, it’s been our first week of 2021 for the team, with Mr Craske and Mr Stow working hard in their bubble’s focusing on Hockey!

As we are on Week 1 at St Michael’s, the sessions in Hockey have been focused on dribbling and getting familiar again with the correct holding of the stick and their general technique. Truthfully, you wouldn’t think it’s been nearly a year since some of the children have picked up a Hockey Stick!

Highlight of the week – The warmth of the staff and children on our first week back at our favourite purple school!

LOCKDOWN LEARNING

PlaySport are delighted to have launched Lockdown Learning this week, which provides the children at home with engaging, active PE lessons!

The feedback so far has been superb, as we kick start our mission to give all children who are stuck at home access to high-quality PE in these challenging times!

A reminder our weekly lessons for Lockdown Learning will be: Ball Skills (Monday’s), Indoor Athletics (Wednesday’s) and Fitness Friday (you guess it, Friday’s).

We hope you have thoroughly enjoyed our sessions and please like and subscribe to our YouTube channel – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfuUfMVE5kWoZb47WCSmpig
