⭐️OUR WEEK IN REVIEW – W/C 22nd March 2021⭐️

PlaySport provides lunchtime supervision to primary schools in Bracknell.

The penultimate week of the Spring Term, which feels rather strange to say as it’s only the third week of having all of the children back at school!

We continue our Basketball sessions in our partner schools, as well as working hard behind the scenes with our Fun Weeks in the Easter Holidays.

Bookings are coming at a very fast pace – so if you are interested in booking on your son/daughter onto our Fun Weeks, it is recommended you secure your spaces as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Full information is below!

See below in a little bit more detail, what we’ve been up too and any updates from the PlaySport team.

The PlaySport team continued delivering our daily Lunch Clubs & PE sessions, in our partner schools: Fox Hill, Sandy Lane, Meadow Vale, St Michaels’ and Great Hollands. The coaching team continue Basketball across the year groups with a few other sports thrown into the mix (different schools plans may vary!).

Fox Hill – Another fun week at Fox Hill, with the children enjoying daily lunch time clubs and PE sessions delivered by Mr McBride and Mr Hayes.

This week has seen the children work in small groups, playing in mini matches which has seen the children demonstrate all the skills they have worked so hard on this half-term. The standard was excellent, with the children competing against one another at a very high standard!

Highlight of the Week – The Year 3’s this week were absolutely superb in their learning and are now showing real confidence in their play!

Sandy Lane – As always at Sandy Lane, the children have been terrific this week, as they are now competing in mini matches!

Similar to Fox Hill, the Sandy Lane children are now well and truly into the swing of things in their match play and are now demonstrating all of the skills learned so far this half-term.

The classes were put into 3v3 and 4v4 games, competing against one another in round-robin style competition, which the children absolutely loved! The clear improvement shown across the school in their Basketball skills was absolutely fantastic. Mr Nower and Mr McDonnell were feeling extremely proud this week!

Highlight of the Week – The very high standard shown by Year 6 in their match play. Some exceptional talent was demonstrated this week!

Meadow Vale – Our newest school continues to be a very enjoyable experience for the PlaySport coaches Mr Sleet and Mr Dean.

As mentioned, last week, a huge influx of new sports equipment arrived last week, which meant a very excited Mr Sleet and Mr Dean had brand new equipment to unleash this week, which certainly added an extra dimension to the sessions!

There was of course lots of match play this week in PE, with the children now working in mini matches (in Basketball), which saw the children compete against one another showing all of their learned skills so far this term.

The children did not disappoint! The standard, effort and behaviour shown was simply perfect!

Highlight of the Week – The Year 5 classes this week just edged it due to their incredible behaviour. Well done Year 5!

Great Hollands – It’s been another belter at Great Hollands, with Mr Robinson continuing working on their Cricket and Mr Lambden teaching his groups Tennis.

In Cricket, the children have now started matches, with the children all showing off the skills they have worked so hard on this term. Furthermore, their tactical side of the game, in regard to their fielding has been very obviously worked on, as this week first class!

In Tennis, the children have now been playing doubles and singles games, with the children even able to serve the ball in correctly to start off each point. One of the real positives, is how far they have come with their backhand, which is traditionally, a very tricky technique to grasp!

Highlight of the Week – The amount of 6’s produced during the Cricket this week..some outstanding play across the school!

St Michael’s Easthampstead – Mr Craske and Mr Stow continue working hard with the wonderful children of St Michaels during their lunch times and PE sessions!!

As per Fox Hill, Sandy Lane and Meadow Vale, the children are now very much into their match play, showing off all the skills learned this term.

It was terrific to see the children not only perform at such a high standard, but also, the sheer enjoyment they demonstrated throughout each session. Furthermore, throughout each game, you could hear the children say “Unlucky”, “Good try”, “Well played” etc. As always, proving to be incredible respectful and supportive of one another.

Highlight of the Week – The Year 3 class were an absolute pleasure to teach this week!
